As the early Church understood, there can be a renewed focus on the mission and message of Jesus even when the majority has no meaningful experience with Jesus.

In the first centuries, Church leaders were developed from the “rank and file,” people’s needs were met and the gospel exploded! It has been estimated that in AD 40, the Roman Empire had a population of 60 million with a very small number of Christians. By AD 350, there were as many as 31 million Christians!
